RON ATHEY writes...
Described as "a traveling medicine show without any cure," The Art of Bleeding is Dr. A.P. Ridenour’s (a.k.a. Rev. Al) actionist-comedy safety exhibition, using performance, film projection, live music, medical nonsense narratives and "managed accidents" to explore themes more productively addressed via common sense. While the jargon is all retro health and safety-education material, the culty fetishism is more J.G. Ballard than CPR. A rotating cast of zany, sexy nurses (including one volatile Kitty Diggins) and the mascot/ambulance driver, Abram the Safety Ape, invite audience participation. In the L.A. film premiere of Burningangel.com's spoof on H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator, Joanna Angel and cast appear live to introduce The Re-Penetrator. Expect XXX zombie action onscreen, and more sexy antics off. Sean Carnage Presents at Il Corral, 662 N. Heliotrope Ave., Hlywd.; Mon., Sept. 19, 8:30 p.m. http://seancarnage.com/.

From the Director

Thank you for visiting the ART OF BLEEDING website. With a single mouse-click, you have become a pioneer, one of the very few who have as yet sampled the fruits of our virginal reality. Yes, there are seeds amid the juicy flesh, but these should not deter the sumptuous pleasure of consumption. Spit them on the pavement and watch them take root! Solid concrete offers no resistance!
From 1991 to 2000, I served as Grand Instigator of the
Cacophony Society, a doofusy group of art roustabouts organized on a national scale a la Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club (or actually vise versa). Over that period, we gathered several times a month to enjoy a particularly robust species of chaotic and theatrical buffoonery. The Art of Bleeding project is an attempt not so much to recall that energy as to refine it.
And it's very educational.
